Call for 2027 Resource Guide Contributions

The theme for iREAD 2027 is Reading Expands Our Universe. 

Science fiction encourages us to dream big, take risks, and imagine a future enhanced by human innovation. Libraries make contemporary technology accessible and provide access to stories that encourage patrons of all ages to explore a world greater than themselves. The beauty of science fiction is that there is a niche for everyone; whether you want robot butlers, dream of a solar-powered utopia, or yearn for time travel. These stories have brought us into the furthest reaches of space, shrunk us down so that we can explore the jungle of our own backyards, and helped readers to examine what it means to lead a human life on Earth. With iREAD 2027: Reading Expands Our Universe, we invite libraries and their patrons to dream big, take risks, and enjoy a summer of exploration and imagination.

Let your imagination and vision lead you to create and submit a proposal for the 2027 iREAD Resource Guide in one of the following categories:

    • Getting Started
      Publicity and Promotion; Registration and Recording; Staff Resources; and Slogans, Jokes, Tweets, and Quotes.
    • Crafts and Maker Ideas
      Please include a list of materials, sources for materials, step-by-step instructions, and resources. An original drawing, sample, and/or photograph is required.
    • Programming 
      Participatory and Passive Programs, Storytimes, Events, and Presenters
    • Decorations and Displays 
      Please include a list of materials, sources for materials, step-by-step instructions, and resources. An original drawing, sample, and/or photograph is required.
    • Bibliographies and Other Resources
      Fiction and nonfiction books, audio, or films for various ages. Indicate the reading level/interest category: board books, picture books, early readers, grades 2-6, teen, adult, or family.

Note: If you do not have all parts of your contribution ready, the forms allow you to start a contribution and save your progress. You can then access your contribution at a later time, make necessary additions and submit.
